This is the first part of the 2011 history panel containing the following IMsL titleholders: Judy Tallwing-McCarthy (1987), Shan Carr (1988), Gabrielle Antolovich (1990), Amy Marie Meek (1993; IMsL owner 1994-2006), Spencer Bergstedt (1994), Pat Baillie (1995), Jill Carter (1996), Megan (Dejarlais) Martin (1998), and Pam Meyer (1999). Leather Yenta moderates this panel and asks if any of the former titleholders would run again.  Judy Tallwing-McCarthy, Shan Carr, Gabrielle Antolovich and Amy Marie Meek respond.

 

Highlights include Judy Tallwing-McCarthy discussing the origins of the contest; Judy Tallwing-McCarthy and Shan Carr telling stories about first two contests; Gabrielle Antolovich’s fundraising as Mother Very Superior; and Amy Marie Meek reading aloud a letter she wrote to the IMsL, Inc. Board of Directors prior to her 1993 run. Discussions also include what it was like to be the first woman at a Leather bar, AIDS fundraising, and S/M community research used in the DSM-IV project.
